MCAD’s Print Art of the Plant Kingdom, a half-day printmaking workshop held last 14 September, was inspired by HFT The Gardener, a work by Suzanne Treister which features botanical prints. Facilitated by Benjie Cabrera and Mars Bugaoan of the Philippine Association of Printmakers, the workshop taught participants the history of Botanical Illustration which was widely used before the advent of printing in the 1800’s in fields such as botany and medicine. In addition, students partook in a hands-on workshop on the fine art of print-making using real plants.
