Multifunctionality in Taiwan’s Independent Art Space with Esther Lu

MCAD, together with the Taipei Contemporary Art Center (TCAC), invite you to ‘Multifunctionality in Taiwan’s Independent Art Space’ a talk with TCAC’S Director, Esther Lu.

Lu will discuss how TCAC acts as one of the few independent art spaces in Taiwan and how the center’s multiple functions for research, exhibition, and discussion make it a breeding ground of ideas and cultural dialogue.

Esther Lu is a Taiwanese independent curator based in Taipei. Lu studied literature and art history, and completed an MA at Goldsmiths College and curatorial studies in CuratorLab, Konstfack University, Sweden. She is interested in exploring practices to mobilize connections and conversations inside and outside of institutions. Her conceptual experiments often address the agency of art and initiate alternative artistic productions in between social scenes in reality and platforms of art in order to investigate the critical role of art today.

The talk is part of MCAD Platforms, a combination of research and event-based activities and talks by curators, artists, scholars, and experts geared towards a mature public.

Venue: 12 F Cinema, De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde School of Design and Arts (SDA) Building, 950 P. Ocampo St. Malate, Manila.

The talk is FREE and open to the public.
